Is NanoPrompter really free?
Yes. NanoPrompter is completely free, with no sign-up, no premium tier and no usage limits.
Do I need to install anything?
No. It runs in any modern browser on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS.
How do I share my script with someone else?
Click Share in the editor to generate a password-protected link. The recipient opens the link in their browser and enters the password.
For how long is a shared link available?
24 hours. After that, the shared script is automatically deleted from the server.
Is my script private?
Yes. Scripts are stored in your browser, and shared links are protected by a password and expire automatically.
Can I use it with a physical teleprompter?
Yes. Enable Mirror mode to flip the text horizontally so it reads correctly through a beam-splitter teleprompter.
Can I control the teleprompter with a gamepad?
Yes. Connect any USB or Bluetooth gamepad: the stick adjusts speed and font size, and buttons can be mapped to any action.
Does it work on phones and tablets?
Yes. The interface adapts to any screen size, so you can present from a phone mounted on a small teleprompter.
Where is my script stored?
In your browser's local storage, saved automatically. Nothing is uploaded unless you create a share link.
Can I change speed or font size while playing?
Yes. Use the sliders, keyboard shortcuts or a gamepad to adjust speed and size without stopping playback.
Which browsers are supported?
Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge, on both desktop and mobile.
Can I customize the keyboard shortcuts?
Yes. Open the keyboard panel in the teleprompter view and remap each action to the keys you prefer.
